Job Description
Full-time Welding Instructor, Crowder College, effective Fall 2017. Crowder College is seeking dedicated, experienced, and motivated individuals to provide leadership, engagement, and discipline expertise in continuing to move the welding program forward in innovative ways. As a full time faculty member at Crowder College, successful candidates will demonstrate commitment to student success through teaching, including remediation and learning excellence. The successful candidate will be expected to provide instruction in all phases of welding and related areas. Example of courses include: Oxy-Acetylene Welding, Cutting, Brazing, Soldering, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, Flux Core Arc Welding, Plasma Arc Cutting, CNC Plasma Arc Cutting, Carbon Arc Cutting, Blueprint Reading and Interpretation, Pipe Layout, Pipe fitting, and Metal Fabrication. The assignment will be made based on the successful candidate’s experience, background and institutional need. This assignment may include teaching customized training at various locations, different times, and with different modalities. Other duties include: participation in student recruitment and articulation, transfer programs; maintaining subject matter currency; developing and revising curriculum; using computer and technology; assessment of program learning outcomes; collegial participation in departmental, college and discipline-specific professional activities. Instructor will offer students the opportunity to participate in “Materials Joining Entrepreneurships” (MJEs). As opportunities for materials joining projects from outside customers become available, students completing materials joining classes that include small business skills and practices will be assigned as “project manager” to the customer. The materials joining project will include product concept and design, pricing, schedules and quality testing as part of the contract negotiations with the customer, assistance with developing business and entrepreneurial skills in communication, negotiation, marketing, finance and common sound business practices.
Successful candidate knowledge and critical skills/experience:
  1. Two to five years of occupational experience directly related to the welding industry.
  2. Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred or prior learning equivalence.
  3. Ability to plan, organize, and implement responsibilities effectively.
  4. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, other professionals, staff, and the public.
 Salary is dependent on education and teaching experience. Full-time 10-month position, salary range of $36,000-44,000, commensurate with education and experience, excellent fringe benefits.
