    Job Description
    Half-time Welding Instructor for the Spring 2019 semester. Position responsible for teaching welding courses as scheduled and agreed to with the Director and in keeping with established guidelines as outlined in the Job Description. Teaching assignment will involve traditional daytime courses.  Successful candidates will demonstrate commitment to student success through teaching, including remediation and learning excellence. The successful candidate will be expected to provide instruction in all phases of welding and related areas. Example of courses include: Oxy-Acetylene Welding, Cutting, Brazing, Soldering, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, Flux Core Arc Welding, Plasma Arc Cutting, CNC Plasma Arc Cutting, Carbon Arc Cutting, Blueprint Reading and Interpretation, Pipe Layout, Pipe fitting, and Metal Fabrication. The assignment will be made based on the successful candidate’s experience, background and institutional need. Other duties include: participation in student recruitment and articulation; maintaining subject matter currency; using computer and technology; assessment of program learning outcomes; collegial participation in departmental, college and discipline-specific professional activities.
    Position Knowledge, Critical Skills, and Experience Expectations:
    • Two to five years of occupational experience directly related to the welding industry.
    • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred or prior learning equivalence.
    • Ability to plan, organize, and implement responsibilities effectively.
    • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, other professionals, staff, and the public.
    Experience teaching and/or working with college students is preferred, excellent communication and interpersonal skills required as is the ability to plan, organize, and implement responsibilities effectively and to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, other professionals, staff, and the public. Half-time position salary range of $15,600- $19,000 commensurate with education and experience.
